Hi, I'm David my friends call me sheep (long story...)
I run a video production company and creative consultancy called DenimStitch Creative here in San Diego California.
I also write The Weekly Arsenal which is how you landed on my slice of pie on the internet.
It is a newsletter for founders who are trying to build a video team that delivers without them.
(Not in a magical passive-income way.)
More like...
your team can make the call,
ship the work,
protect the quality,
and not need your brain in every single decision.
Which sounds simple.
It is not.
Handing off the work you built is hard.
Especially when the work still has your taste, your judgment, your client context, your standards, and your weird little instincts baked into it.
So a lot of founders get stuck in the middle.
They have a team.
They have editors.
They have people helping.
But video delivery still comes back to them.
Every unclear draft.
Every final approval.
Every "is this good enough?"
Every client-sensitive call.
Back to the founder.
And pretty soon the team is not really delivering without you.
They are waiting for you.
That is mostly what I write about here.
The messy middle of video operations.
How work moves.
Where it gets stuck.
Why review loops keep happening.
Why SOPs sometimes help and sometimes do absolutely nothing.
How to make standards visible before the edit comes back wrong.
How to hand off decisions without pretending quality does not matter.
How to stop becoming the approval system in your own business.
I write from real conversations, real operating problems, and the things I am learning as I work with founders and video teams.
Names stay out of it.
Private details stay private.
But the lessons are worth sharing.
Because most of the time, the problem is not that your team is bad.
The problem is that the handoff was never finished.
The decision still lives in your head.
The Weekly Arsenal is for founders, agency owners, content teams, and operators who are responsible for video delivery.
Especially if you already have people helping,
but the work still depends on you before it can ship.
You will probably feel at home here if you have ever thought
That is the world this newsletter is built for.
Most issues sit inside a few lanes:
Sometimes it is a story.
Sometimes it is a framework.
Sometimes it is a weird little operating truth that showed up in a call and would not leave me alone.
Whatever.
If it helps someone stop making every video delivery decision themselves,
it probably belongs here.
Since you found me I would start with these:
I spent years working in the film industry in Hollywood.
Now I run DenimStitch Creative and work with founders who are trying to optimize their video in house.
My work sits somewhere between video production, operations, team training, and telling founders the thing they already know but have not wanted to look at yet.
Usually kindly.
Usually.
The goal is simple:
Stop making every video delivery decision yourself.
Start building a team that delivers without you.
That is what my world is about.
