From the Arsenal: Give the video a job first
Story Of The Day: This came up twice.
I was reading over the transcripts from my last few sessions.
On one call,
it showed up after people watched the video.
The next step was muddy.
Then what?
Book a call?
Click a link?
Talk with somebody?
It was missing.
So it was not about:
"make more videos."
More like:
"make more loose ends."
On another call,
the problem was inside the team.
People were getting it.
The work was killer.
But what happens after?
What was the result of that?
Sometimes we're doing video
just to check a box.

But delivery is bigger than that.
I'd challenge you to go further...
Content is not done
because it is out in public.
It is done when it pushes
something forward.
In a business it has one sole purpose:
To fulfill a business function.
In other words,
IF IT AIN'T MOVING SH*T WHY ARE YOU DOING IT!
That's where it stills comes back to you.
(or maybe you're guarding that last sacred ground)
The team makes the thing.
You decide if it worked.
Connect the dots yet?
Sometimes you find yourself asking:
"What was this supposed to do?"
After you've already gotten
the deliverables.
A mature team answers that
before the job.
If the goal is calls,
the path supports calls.
If the goal is sales,
the asset supports sales.
You get where this is going.
From just making video
to owning video outcomes,
there is a bridge.
And trust me,
it took me a while
to figure that out too.
Takeaways: Are you just going through the motions?
How to Apply It Today:
- Name The Job: Before the next video starts, asks why 5 times.
- Check The Path: If someone watches, what should happen next?
- Review The Result: Ask if the work moved the next thing forward.
Pro tip: If your team only owns the asset, you will keep owning the outcome.
